Mutual improvement Society.
Last Tuesday evening the Mutual Improvement Society held a gentleman's night in the Methodist Schoolri.om, The Rev W. Woollass was in the chair at the commencement, and at the recess haqded his position over to Mr Edmund Osborne. The whole of the proceedings, singing, *q music and refreshments '^ere carried out by gentlemen members. Mr H. Baker played the accompaniments during the evening and gave a recita'ion. His services were much appreciated and the other performers feel under a compliment to bim. The principal items of the evening were olantation songs and solos and choruses, sung by a company conlisting of Messrs T. Westwood, 8Rowan, W. Howan, Alf. Morgan, a H. Blake. P. Walker and T. Dunck
ley. Messrs E. Westwood, 0 Baker and G. Martin also gave recitations. During the evening refreshments were handed round, which were prepared by Mr J. Walls. The even ing was a pronounced success and it is the last of its kind for this season. Next Tuesday evening is the last night, and then the editor, Mr G. Simpson will read his journal of the - proceedings for the whole season,
