An edict has been issued at Pekin rescinding the Emperor's recent reforms and ordering the imprisonment of Chang Yinyuan, the member of the Imperial Council who was deposed for sympathy with the movement.
The crisis arose owing to a dis oovery of a plot between the Emperor and Rang Yui Wei to remove the Dowager Empress from any interest in the Government.
Eang's brother has been condemned to execution.
The Dowager Empress has discovered a letter written by Rang Yui Wei warning the Emperor against his Imperial clansman, suggesting the removal of the Dowager from Pekin, and also the banishment of Li Hong Chang.
Admiral Seymour with the British fleet is at Takn.
A Manchu leader is controlling the northern forces, and Commander Yang La has been hurriedly summoned to Pekio.
Hen Yau Gyi, who waa dismissed from bis position as Minister to Russia at the instigation of Sir Nicholas O'Connor (formerly British Ambassador at Sir Petersburg) for want of probity, probably rejoins the Tsang H-Yamen. Yang La, Viceroy of Tientsin, who is the enemy of the Emperor, has been transferred to Pekin.
The British warship Bonaventnre convoys the vessel with Rang Yui Wei aboard.
The main portion of the British squadron has left Taka for Weihaiwei.
Eight of Kang Ya Wei's companions are nnder trial for conspiracy against the Dowager-Empress. The Timta Pekin correspondent states that the Imperial edict regrets the Emperor's increasing ill-health, and commends the governors of all the provinces to send their best physicians to his assistance. The British Consul at Canton is protecting Kang Ya Wei's family.
