♦ The latest news from the Philippines state that 14,000 insurgents have evacuated the suburbs of Manila, in deference to the wishes ■.>f General Merritc, the Commander of the Araerioan forces. Tne New York correspondent. of the Times states that the American members of the Peace Commission, to whom the question of the disposal of the Philippines has been submitted demand the cession oi the island of Luzon, and also the coaling station' in the Ladrone Islands.
The correspondent also states that besides the regular army cf tha United States 125,000 volunteers will remain enrolled. General Wheeler anticipates a a renewal of r.be war.
