Mr Chamberlain's Visit to America.

Mr Chamberlain, Secretary of State for the Colonies in the British Cabinet, has arrived at New York.

In an interview with a representative of the New York Herald, he intimated that England was awaiting the terms of America for the establishment of close relations between the two countries. England would consent to anything of a reasonable nature.

Mr Chamberlain confirmed the report that an agreement had been arrived at between Great Britain and Germany respecting the settlement of territorial differences in Africa.

With reference to the British victory in the Soudan, he admitted that the intention was immediately to continue the railway from Atbara to Khartoum. It would, he added, probably be carried right through to the Cape Colony within the lifetime of the present generation.
