. , — « • A youth named Henry Barrett, who was one of the prisoners at the Auckland Supreme Ccurt onTuesday afternoon, adopted an insolent demeanour during the hearing of his case. After receiving sentence he intimated his intention and ability to do it on his head with such very lurid language that caused a sensation. He clung to the railing in front of the dock. He was removed with some difficulty by warders. The prisoner is 22 years of age. He has already figured in enough cases to give him the reputation o£ a " Jack Sheppard," the order beginning in 1894 with an odd case or two of larceny. He went on breaking and entering, thence to robbery under arms. He received four years imprisonment, on the charge of breaking and pnterinp 1 . and fifreaHne r .
