Lord Charles Beresford has atartpd on hi* visit to China to report as to the prospects of British trade and commerce in tho Empire. Lord Cbarlp.s will also visit the Emperor of Japan. The Government newspapers, commenting on tbe Southport election, state that Sir H. Naylor-Leyland has many tenants in Southport, whose leaseholds he promised to exchange for a more permanent tenure. Lord Wolseley, CommanderinChief, has issued a general order instructing tha army officers to inculcate temperance and morality amongst the troops.
