A run occurred on the Spanish banks, but it was met with the assistance of the British banks. The Manila insurgents are willing to surrender their arms if they are assured that the islands will be under an American or British protectorate. News has been received from Manila that the rebel leader Aquinaldo has ordered his followers to lay down their arms.
