The eleotion for Soufchport, Lancashire, caused by the appointment of the Hon. G. N. Curcon as Vicroy of India, resulted in the return of Sir Leyland Maylor, who polled 5100 votes, against Lord Skelmersdale's ! 4828. The Radical press are exultant at i the issue, and olaims that the result sounds the death-knell of the Salisbury Government.
