The Commissioners appointed to examine th« machines and processes submitted in competition for the bonuses offmed for the encouragement of the N«w Zealand hemp industry !hv<? submitted a detailed rep->rt a-; the result of their investigations. In concluding their description of the several processes sub" raited they state: — " We regret that no practical demonstration of an improvement coming within the term-; of the bonns has y.et been submitted either for lessening the cost of production or, by improving the qualify of the fibre, to secure a better pi'icp, although we think there is every hope that the chemical processes will come. nearer to what is wanted than anything yet dig* covered."
