The heat at Santiago is almost unbearable, and the Americans fight nearly naked.
The transportation of|siege guns is progressing rapidly.
The Cubans, who are actively assisting the operations of the Ameri can troops, have cut off the Santiago water supp'y.
An unprotected cruiser and the iionc'acl Terror attacked the St. Paul and Son Juan forts. The guns from the latter place hit the Terror thrice, killing an officer and two men The Terror was towed into the harbobr in a sinking condition.
President McKinleyhas proclaimed St. Juan blockaded.
