THE ATTACK ON GUANTANAMO. The American fleet bombarded Gaantanamo, 40 miles east of Santiago de Cuba. The shore batteries wore easily silenced, bnt the Spaniards still hold | the main fort. The American marines, recently landed, occupy a hill overlooking the town. The Spaniard attacked the party of marines which was landed at Guantanomo to form a naval base. Thirteen hours' guerilla fighting ensued, during which four marines were killed. An advance picket is missing.
