FAILURE OF HOOLEY. Mr Ernest Terah Hooley, the wellknown financier, whose speculations were last year a matter of the worldwide notoriety, has filed a petition in bankruptcy. Mr E. J. Hooley attributes his failure fco the blackmailing of syndicates and newspapers, who absorbed the profits of his ventures. He alleges fchafc he paid one newspaper £40,000 for a single article, and £10,000 for law courts costs. The claims against his estate amount fco £500,000. Mr Hooley estimates thafc his estate will show a surplus of J6400,--000.
