TO THK EDITOB OF THE MANAWATU HEBALD. Sir, — In reference to the letter over the name of Alfred Fraser that appeared in your columnsof Thursday last I wish to say that I would have not replied but for the fact that you your-
self noticed the matter in your columns of Saturday last, and appeared to take the statement for granted. I wish to say sir, that the agreement entered into between the Flaxmillers and the Council still stands good, that the annual rent be £$ per annum, and any allowance made during the previous years was made simply for one year^ only, and we think that the iKiMer^fejj considering the increased price of flaf^B are quite willing to pay this amount, and this is the reason that the proposed resolution of Councillor Fraser's was not considered and was stated to him at the time. With reference to Councillor Fraser's remarks re " Backbone " and " Shop " I do not wish to reply to, but take them to be the wails of a disappointed man, and leave the matter for the ratepayers to consider.
