The American cruising steamer Harvard put into Kingston (capital of Jamaica) for repairs to her steer • ing* gear and a supply of coals. The British steamer Foacolia collided with the American cruiser Columbia during a fog. The Foscolia sank, but the crew were saved. The Columbia had a large hole made in her hull, and she returned to New York for repairs.
