The Hon W. P. Beeves (AgentGeneral for New Zealand), Sir Westby Perceval (AgenfsGeneral for Tasmania), Sir Saul Samuel (ex-Agent-General for Ne ir South Wales), and Sir Andrew Olark (AgentGeneral for Victoria) have joined the committee to promote an Anglo American alliance. The American officers at Tampa gave a dinner ih honour of the Queen's Birthday. The flags of the two nations were intertwined, and the allusion of an alliance with Britain was cheered. The chaplain of the American Senate offered a prayer for Queen Victoria and for closer Anglo-Ameri-can union. - Mr Day, Secretary of State tele graphed to Tampa, where the officers were dining in honour of the Queen's Birthday, stating that the Govern ment was watobing the oelebration with friendly interest. He suggested that a military salute be fired in the Queen's honour. Sir Julian Pauncefote, British Ambassador, has received many letters from all parts of America, strongly advocating an alliance with Britain.
