CUBAN CABLES.
An unsuccessful attempt was made by a party of Americans to bat the cable in Guantanamo Bay, hear the southern extremity of Cuba. The Americans entered flying the Spanish colours for the purpose of deceiving the defenders, but a Spanish gunboat opened fire, and compelled them to retire. Reports from Key West state that the cable from Cieofuegos to Santiago de Ouba, which was cut, has been repaired. Reports from Madrid state that tig Spanish authorities have decided to cut the American cables to Cuba if the remainder of the other cables to Cuba are out by the United States.
