An Amusing Case
Great excitement was afforded at the Marylebone Conrt (says the Djtily News) by an eccentric and voluble elderly women who sought Mr Plowden's advice respecting her husband.
Mr Plowden— What is the matter with him ? *
Applicant — Oh, he comes in at all tim. 8, and he's almost obstreperous. Mr Plowden- Almost, not quite.
And he's quite unbearable. Mr Plowden- Quite unbearable and almost obstreperous. (Laughter)
Well, it's just this. I'm afaerd of him,' cause he breaks up the furnituro and threatens to set firo to the house. Last week he puts lighted paper under the bed, and puts the clothes in the fire. M r Plowden - What next ? Why, I calls in a bobby to reject him out from doing any more vio lence, and he up 3 with a poker and tonga to knock me brains out. (Great laughter). Then I wilfully rushed at him to protect myself, and I threw him down aa I might just, there in that oorner. (More laughter). Mr Plowden — What, poker and tongs and all ?
