A Terrible Weapon

An ingenious American seems to have utilised one of Mr Wells" ter~ ribles ideas, and if his invention comes op to expectations, there is every possibility of the realisation of Mr Edison's prediction that " There never can he war when science has achieved what I know science is sure to achieve, and for the best of reasons that nothing human can prevail against the weapons of the future. A man might as well try and combat with a flash of lightning." This American idea is to instil into the into the flash-light rays of men-of war a deadly and insidious power, so that every living thing they fall upon will be instantly destroyed. Truly a terrible invention, and one that seem almost incredible. But experiments have already been made most successfully with rabbits, and it remains to be seen whether the development of this discovery will revolutionise the methods of warfare.
