Dramatic and Musical Club.
A meeting was held on Thursd^ night at Mr Hamer's, the object being the formation of an Amateur Dramatic Club.
Mr Alf Fraser was voted to the chair.
It was decided to form a Club to be known as " The Foxton Amateur Dramatic and Musical Club, the object being to give entertainments for such purposes as should be decided by a majority of the working members. +~ Nine gentlemen and eleven ladief were elected working members. The following were elected the committee to transact the general business of the Club: — Messrs A. Fraser, J. McQueen, W. Hamer, C. Austin, W. Purcell, Mrs Cook, Miss West and Miss O'Brien. Cast Committee — Messrs Fraser, McQueen and Mrs Stewart. Stage-manager, Mr Frasor. The following officers were elected^ — President, F. Robinson, Esq. ; Vicfc-^ presidents, His Worship the Mayor (J. R. Stansell, Esq.) ; E. S. Thynne, Esq. ; Walter Robinson, Esq. : W. Langdon, Esq. ; W. S. Stewart, Esq., and the Rev. R. Young.
Mr Alf Fraser was elected honorary secretary and treasurer. The rules of the old Dramatic Club were read over, and with slight alterations, were adopted. The annual subscription for working members was fixed at 5s for gentlemen, and as 6d for ladies ; honorary members, 10s 6d, to have 3 tickets for each performance.
It was also decided to hold a concert on or about June Ist to help provide funds for working expenses. Much interest was shown in the for* mation of the Club, and with every likelihood of its being a success. The names of a large number of others was also placed before the meeting as probable members (hono> rary and working.)
The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
