HAVANA.
Havana is the capital of Cuba and the principal centre of the commerce of the We3t Indies. It is situated on the north side >of the island and ia thu* due south of 'he island of Key West situated on the southern most point of the State of Florida. is obtained to its magnificent well-sheltered harbour by a channel 850 jardi wide, the entrance to which ie defended by lort^. The town has a population of over 198.000, and among ins institu tions u umbers an arsenal, and a Uig« hospital, also a ca.hedral, built in the old Spanish style in 1724 in which it is claimed the bones of Uoluoibu9 are buried.
