A GREAT SURPLUS.
Sir Michael Hichs-B^aob, Chancellor of the Exchequer, delivered his Budget Speech in the House of Commons last week
It shows a surplus for the year of nearly £4,000.000.
In the estimates for the coming year tha Government proposes slight abatements in the income tax and tobacco, legacy and succession duties.
The. miners' strike is involving thp South Walei industries in a losg of £800.000 wepkly. Including thosp idle in the iron industry some 200,000 parson* are out of work. The locil aulhorifies concerned are a? king the Board of Trade to intervene to settle the difficulty.
