Stock Report.
Mesa's Abraham and Williams report : — Sale3 were held during the week at Colyton, Palmerston, and a clearing sale for Mr B. Cobb on Wednesday. At both Colyton and Palmerßtflr" 1 entries of both cattle and sheep were ar in excess of those advertised. We had a poor attendance at Colyton, but with the exception of the lambs we disposed of the bulk of the stock entered at ruling rates. At Palmerston there was a good attendance, and good conditioned sheep were freely competed for. Best wethers and fat ewes mefc^S ready sale, with an improvement in value, but lambs and low-conditioned ewes were almost unsaleable, except at boiling«down prices. Cattle, mostly grown steers, sold freely under the hammer, and one or two large buyers bsing present, a total clearance was effected, at an im« provement on recent rates. At Mr Cobb's sale on Wednesday there was a good attendance, but the prices realised for the sheep were terrible low, considering the quality*of the stock offered. The day for Romneys will doubtless come again, but at present the outlook is not encouraging, and we should recommend our Rotnoey friends to keep their flocks down as low as possible, consisting with the maintenance of their quality.
