Twelve important Emirs were amongst tha Dervishas killed, in eluding Wadel-Bishera, one of their most notable men. Captain Findlay, of tha Cimoron Highlanders, has succumbed to wounds received in the battle. Her Majesty the Queen, tit Emperor of Germany, the Khediv and Lord Salisbury (Prim,?- Minis' f> of England) have sent their congratulations to General Sir H^ibtT' Kitchener on hia brilliant victory over the Dervishes. I Her Majesty wag greatly r^joic^d 1 at the victory, and she has inquir«u after the welfare of the wounded. The troops on reading the various messages cheered with groai enthusiasm. A. thanksgiving service was hold for the victory. Mahmud, who was captured after the battle, is haughty and sullen. Eeplying to General Kitchener, ho said : " I have to do what I am 'told to do ; so have you." The troops uuder General Kitchener who took part in the recent battle are returning to their quartern. The wounded have been sent to Gennanette Hospital. In illustration ot the heavy fire confronted by "he attacking army, the body of Piper Stewart, of the Cameron Highlanders, who , was killed on the way to the Dervishes' zareba, had in it no fewer than seven bullet wounds The British Brigade, in making the advance, was fully 28 hours afoot.
