exclusive sphere, while the influence of the Kusßian position at Port Arthur has been checked.
China has agreed to the French demands, but haß reserved to the British rights with regard to extension at Eowloon.
Bussia is fortifying Talienwan. The Novoe Vremya states that the concession of Weihaiwei to Britain deprives the Russian fleet of a free exit from the Gulf of Pechili.
