Ticklishness, bo marked a characteristic of childhood, has been a eubject of prolonged study by Dr. Louis Robinson. Ho finds tliafc ticklish animals all belong to tho mammalia, and tbat the most ticklish parrs are the jnost vulnerable. Ho concludes that tick lishncss in man is probably ; a vestigo of the nervous machinery neces- ' 6ary as a means of defonso in an earlier stago of human development. 1
