Nail Biting Among Children.
Dr. Berillon finds that the habifc of nail biting among children is extremely common. In a public school in Paris, out of 2C5 pupils examined during ono month, 63 — that is to say, nearly one-fourth— were addicted to the practice. Curiously enough, results vary greatly in different districts and in different schools in the samo district. It seems that girls are moro given to tho habit than boys. In ono girls' school in the department of Yonno 11 out of 21 wero confirmed nail biters. In another girls' school the proportion was Cl out of SO7 pupils, and, of those 61, 15 were found to b9 in the habit of biting tho nails of both hands, and tho others of biting only thoso of ono hand. M. Borillon recognizes that nervousness has much to do with the habit.
