Queen's Birthday Sports.

A meeting of persons interested in considering what to do with a surplus derived from the sports held last Queen's Birthday was held on Tuesday evening last. There was only a moderate attendance and Mr J. R. Stansell was votad to the chair. The chairman said the meeting had been called to consider what to do with a surplus amounting to £8 16? B<l. He was in favour of donating two guineas toward buying some suitable souvenir to be sent to Mr Eure for his services as secretary to th* sports. . It was proposed by Mr Hennessy, seconded by Mr Cook, That two guineas of the balance in hand be donated towards a suitable presentation to Mr F. Eure, the secretary, in recognition of his services.-— Carried. Proposed by Mr Overend, seconded by Mr A. Jonson, That the £6 14s 83, less coat of advertising, be handed over to the secretary of the Sports to be held on St. Patrick's Day, 1898. —Carried.
