» Reports from Akasga, at the Nun mouth of the Niger, state that a force collected by Mr W. Wallace, C.M.G., Agent General for the Royal Niger Company, will assist the Sultan of Sokoto in the event of an incursion by the French expedi tions, These have reached Lokoja, and are advancing towards Sokoto Should the Frenoh expeditions refuse to re-cross the Niger Mr Wallace's force will assist the Sultan in repelling them
