The Money- Lending Scandal.
A LORD SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS' IMPRISONMENT. y - Lord William Nevill, fourth ion of the Marquis of Abergavenny, pleaded guilty to fraud in connection with Lieutenant Clay's bills (Olay, who is a second Lieutenant of the Life Guards, -was sued by a moneylender for £11,112 on two pro* 4 missory notes, whioh purported to have been Bigned by him jointly with young Nevill), but not guilty to the charge of forgery. The latter charge was dropped, and the accused sentenced to five years' imprison- " ment. Lord Nevill was dazed when the sentence was pronounced. Immediately the warder touched him on the shoulder he left the dock and was removed to Newgate, where he was allowed an interview with hie wife in the presence of the governor of the gaol.
