Picnic at the Oroua Bridge.

The bachelors of the Orona Bridge held a picnic on Saturday in Honi Mason's paddock. There were % large number of guests, being between 250 to 300 present, and they came from Palmeraton, A^auuri, Fozton, Makari and all around,' bj train, carriage, and on horsebaok. ▲ oapital dinner was provided at one o'olook, and amongst the sweets thera was, appropriately a Bachelor's padding, not however, we ventured to guess, made by one of them. There was also a, dessert of the f raits of the season. Tea at five o'olock had a feature in. a bachelor's oake, which was excellent. Again a querj as to who made it. If"a bachelor he need not be in a harry to marry. The usual games were indulged in, suoh as "Try again" and "Kiss in the ring" which is a very favourite pastime with young (and old?) people. The result of the meeting will probably be a reduction in the mumber of the marriageable bachelors. Mr G. West, on behalf of the visitors, thanked the bachelors for their invitation, ' and Mr J. J. Meldon suitably responded. , The picnic can fairly be described as a j splendid success. Mr G. Wilton was the honorary secretary and is to be congratulated on the way everything went Off.
