SECOND DAY.— MONDAY.
What has been said of the first day's « meeting can be repeated of the second day, though the weather was even more pleasant. On Saturday. night a good rain fell which freshened the grass and cleared the atmosphere. Yesterday was just the very day that could be wished for in every respect. The Club were again fortunate in capital fields, good starts, and Capital running, aqd the only slight objection raised was ,by the owner of Alionora against the jockey of the winner of the Trial Handicap, but the Stewards having heard the protest promptly dismissed it as frivolous. The public appreciated the decision. The owner laid the protest on the mistaken notion that the jockey had left the weighing-room before being declared ~V& of correct weight. This, however, MV Gray, the Clerk of the Scales, de--fned. With this trifling exception everything went as merrily as a mar-riage-bell, and on all sides visitors • mentioned the enjoyment they had experienced. The Club will realise a satisfactory nrofit from the meeting, and will pr.o%ably clear the cost of the new grand stand. -* Again we congratulate the secretary and the officials and members of the Clnb on another very pleasant and prosperous meeting. 1; Jamdabv Hack Handicap, of 40 sovß. ; second horse to receive 5 soys. irom the stakes.
