The Wirokino Bridge.

— -♦ Whilst tht Mayor was in town last week he called upon Mr Blow, the Under Secretary of Public Works in relation to the erection of the Wirokino Road Bridge. Mr Wilson, the engineer of the Department having been removed to the Midland Railway hi* service! were tbui not at the disposal of the Department, as would have enabled them to provide the plans as requested. The Mater's business was therefore to find another way out of the difficulty add he sought Mr Blow to lend him the necessary assistance. The Mayor suggested the names of two or three engineers bo as to learn whether the Department would view their services favourably, and the result was an interview with Mr jamea E. Fulton, late chief engineer and now consulting engineer to the Manawatu Railway Company, Mr Fultcn has made, what appears to be, a satis: factory offer to the Borough Council, to make an inspection and preliminary report and estimate, take, out approximate quantities and arrange details for the Borough- with the JPublio • Works Department. This offer will be submitted by the Mayor stan informal meeting of the Borough Counoil to be held this afternoon, and we should not mind piophesing that the offer will be gladly accepted.
