LABOUR DEPARTMENT TO 'J, BE NOTIFIED. At Dunedin on Thursday evening last the question of the excessive employment of children of echool age was disoussed by the Educational Institute in committee. From statements made it appeared that in some cases in the colony children at- ' tending school where requested to do several hours' hard work, and physically unfit for their sohcol duties, and even in some instances- - injuriously affected their physical development.
