The expenditures were as follows : civil list of Prince Albert of Monaco, 2,0O;000fr. ; police, gendarmes, schools and publio walls, l,500,000fr. ; directors, administrators, croupiers and servants, 1,( " ),0f )fr. ; theatre, orchestra, races, regattas, * '^eon»Bhooting and charities, 800,0 ' 3fr. ; advertising, 500,0 Dfr. ; fares granted to unlucky gamblers lo return to their homes, 100,000 francs, and a like sum in order to prevent any suicide on the premises. Notwithstanding the lasts mentioned items, no less than thirtyfive persons committed suicide in consequence of their losses.
