Ye Olde English Fayre.

After a week's excitement the above Fair was brought to a conclusion on Saturday night. The attendance on the last day exceeded that of any previous night and the business was as good as eVer> A new show was given by Sir Stansell and Mr F. R. Young. Mr Stanseil showed a number of conjuiX, ing tricks and Me Young gave a novel telephone communication. The idea was good but the small boy entrusted as the medium forgot to use the tube and thus gave the ■show away. A hat trimming competition was held and Mr J. Lawson was the winner. The ladies Were photographed by Mr Eure on Saturday afternoon. The appearance of the ladies bad such an effect on the gentlemen that one well known residont appeared in the dress of the same period, and had his hair powdered. An observation-hive with bees was also shown; an<) sold. Mr England presented this. At the close of the evening the company sang God Save the Queen, Mr England playing the accompaniment. One of "the tricks shown by Mr Stansell was that of placing a pack of oards in a box and on re-opening the same showing it filled with lollies, which, being distributed amongst the young audience, met with* great approval. The ehownnn'a bair did not exactly turn white, but was for some time fall of sweets, owing to some of the lollies being returned to him more forcibly and directly than he had anticipated. The total receipts are close on £129. which may be subject to slight alterations, and is divided as follows :— £. s. d.
