Another Expedition to the North Pole.

Lieutenant Peary, who in 1894 conducted an expedition for the pur* pose of examining the land stretching northward from the coast of Greenland, has arranged to start another expedition in July next. He expects to be away five years, having obtained leave of absence from his duty in the American Navy for that period.

Lieutenant Peary ha 9 been provided with £80,000 by a New York friend towards the expenses of the expedition. He proposes to take a surgeon as his only European companion, the remainder of the party comprising Esquimaux. He intends to leave his ship at Whale Sound, on the north-west coast of Greenland, and from there push along the coast to latitude 81, where he will establish the base of bis supplies, thence follow the land to the termination of Greenland, making a dash for the Pole when a favourable opportunity offers.
