At the enquiry into the fire at Waihi a verdict that it was accidental was returned. An enquiry was than begun into an incipient fire at Coster's chemist's shop about an hour after the first fire. A witness, Mrs Lucas, stated that she saw the fire blazing in the shop while Coster was standing in the doorway/ At this stage Coster was seized with a fit, blood streaming from his mouth, and his conditiou was so serious that a doctor was called in. As Coster's mother was seriously ill and required his presence at Anck lahd, the inquiry was adjourned for a week.
