Hopes Entertained about the Aden's Passengers.

Hopes are still entertained that <*ome of the pas«ensrerH of the ill'fated Aden, the P. and O. steamer which was wrecked on the island of Socotrain the beginning of June, may Rtill be alive though in captivity It will be recollected that on £hb June three boats left the steamer, which at that time wag on the rocka. Two of them only contained rn^n ; rhe third a life boat, was manned by 12 mon of the crew, and in their charge were nine women and eight children. The first two boats driffcpd away before the south-west winU 1 ; nnd with the current, and it is contended mint have reached the coast of \rabia. The life boat rounded a C4p<* a mile and a half distant from rhe wreck, and then disappeared. It may, however, have eff 'Ct^d a land* ing either on the coast of Socotra or Arabia. It i 5? considered that if the occupants of either of the boats had reached the shore they would have been in captivity by the nativps, and this contingency has been brougi hy Mr J Cbi«bolra Robertson, of S . Vincent street Glasgow, whose wife and three children were on board the Ion? boat, so forcibly before the notico of the Colonial Omoa, that, the Government has decided upon und^rraking the work of searching Arabia «nd Socotra. Adequate rewards wi 1 be off-red, and enquiries will b° made both at Aden and Muscat. — Timet.
