A Seduction Case.
HEAVY DAMAGES. At the Wellington Supreme Court on Thursday, tbe Cdief Justice and a jury of twelve heard a case in which Walter J. Lindor-» chemist, of Carter-
ton, claimed £760 damages from Harry H. Tulley, town clerk of Greytown North, for the seduction of his eldest daughter Cecilia. On the plaintiffs side it was stated the seduction took place under a promise of, marriage. The jury returned a Verdict for plaintiff, awarding £500 damages. Although £1000 damages was claimed in the breach of promise, of marriage the counsel for plaintiff, Cecilia Lindopj, said he did not ask for Tindictive darriages. The jury, after a few minutes' retirement, awarded £850, and the Judge certi* fied for costs, according to scale, in both cases. No defence was offered by Tnlly in either case.
