Allandale Re-Captured.

The . escaped burglar Herbert Allandale was re-captured yesterday morning on the hills at the back of Lyttelton. When challenged by the Permanent Artillerymen to surrender he refused to do so, and one of them fired a couple of bullets close to him. Allandale ran away and was lost sight of for a quarter of an hour, when he was found concealed "behind a rook.

On being approached he put his back to the rock, and branished an axe. His pursuers covered him with their revolvers, and closed in on him, but he still refused to surrender, telling them that either they must " shoot him, or he would kill them With the axe."
