Manawatu County Council.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Council was held on Wednesday, when there were present — Grs Bansom (chairman), Strang, Masters, McLennab, (Taylor and Hammond. Portion of the correspondence was* dealt with as follows i — Prom Percy Daniell, offering to sell his boat for £5, and also requesting the Council to fence No. 2 ferry reserve, and asking £7 for the wjre at the ferry. — New wire has been procured. — No decision was come to in regard to fencing, and Mr Daniell to be requested to get the boat to the ferry for inspection with a view to its purchase by the Council. From Gammon & Co., Foxton, offering iron bark 15ft to 80ft, at 18s 3d per hundred ; 80ft to 40ft at 20s 8d ; piles, 25ft to 45ft, 2s per foot running; matai, 10s per hundred at Foxton, and totara, 17s 6d. From the Sluggish Creek Drainage Board, requesting the Council to assist in raising the level of the road opposite sections 70 and 71 opposite the main drain. — Left with Or McLennan to find out probable cost. From Andrew Jonson, Foxton, recommending use of gear for Scott's Ferry punt, similar to that in use in Wirokino. From C. R. S. McDonell, Ferryman at Scott's Ferry, stating that ibe levers were unworkable. The flaps should be made to work the same as those on the Bull's punt. He also needed a boat without a keel, repairs to the cottage and other matters. It was decided to adopt the levers suggested for lifting the flaps, and the other matters mentioned were referred to the overseer. Mr Thomas Bowe, Foxton, waited on the Council in regard to rates on 'be Wesleyan Block, Moutoa, and in regard to the road to his section. — Bates to be charged from time he took possession, and in regard to road, left to Mr Bowe to arrange with Or Strang. It was resolved — That C. LumsJen's tender for making an embank-, ment at Scott's Ferry be aocepted. It was resolved— That tenders be invited for forming and metalling the river bank road. Tenders to be in by noon on the day of the Council's next meeting. Having passed the monthly accounts the meoting adjourned.
