Lord Salisbury has suggested the appointment by the Powers of a Commission to control sufficient of i the Greek revenue to cover the in* terest on the old loans and also the war indemnity loan. Reuter's Constantinople correspondent states that the Powers have accepted Lord Salisbury's latest proposals in reference to the control of the Greek revenue for the payment of the interest on the old and war indemnity loan. England conceded Germany's demand for the inclusion of the old loan, but maintained the demand ior the prompt evacuation of Thessaly. Greece has accepted the terms as approved by the Powers. Lord Salisbury suggested that a month should be allowed for the Turkish troops to evacuate Thessaly. Greece has offered to assign the unpledge Customs duties on currants, figs, lighthouse and harbour dues collected at Port Laurium, in Attica, the outlet of an important mining centre. The revenue from there sources amounts to over 10,000,000 drachmas (£275,000) anually. Heuter's correspondent adds that the Greek Chamber of Deputies will require to pass a law assigning the necessary revenues to cover the interest. The dates for the payment; of the interest have not yet been decided. Tewfik Pasha, the Turkish Minister for Foreign Affairs, is favourable impressed with Lord Salisbury's proposals. The peace negotiations will be resumed to-morrow.
