Despatches with reapeofc to the ad vance of the British expedition in the Soudan state that a gunboat has reached Abu Hamed, and five other gunboats hare passed the most difficulty points on the Nile. The river is rising steadily, and it is ex. pected that the gunboats will shortly be enabled to pass the Fifth Cataract, which is some distance above Abu Hamed. A steam pump is in operation at the new well Bunk on the road aoross the desert from Wady Haifa to Abu Hamed, and a large supply of water is being produced.
