— — — • Later despatches from the Indian frontier state that 100 Swatis have been killed in an encounter with a British force, and that the field artillery has demoralised the mobilisation of the natives. The Indian Army is working admirably. Khaibar, Kohart and Kuram, on the frontier, are threatened by rebel tribesmen. The Sultan has disclaimed joining with the Ameer' in fomenting an insurrection amongst the followers of Islam on the Afghanistan frontier. Eeports from Peshawar state that the outlook on the Afghan frontier is less disquieting. The tribesmen are daunted by the rapid concentration of the troops. Twelve thousand have already been concentrated in the valley of the Swat River, 7600 at Tocei, 5600 at Bawal Pindi, and 12,000 at Eobat and Peshawar. The religious leaders of the Swatis have submitted.
