Foxton Racing Club.

— ♦■ ■ The annual meeting of the Foxton Racing Club was held at McMillan's Auction -room on Thursday evening. Mr Thynne, Vice-President occupied the chair. The Secretary (Mr J. B. Whyte), read the minutes of the last Annual ' Meeting and they were confirmed* He then read the following Report and Balance-sheet. BEPOKT OF COMMITTEE. In accordance with the Club.'s usual custom your committee have pleasure in submitting the annual statement of accounts for the year ending 80th June, 1897. The total receipts including ft balance of £128 Os 4d from the year amount to £972 7s Id, and the expenditure £779 16s lid, leaving a tradft balance in Bank of £192 10s. A two days race meeting wa» held in January last and stakes to' the amount of £600 were given away, the meeting as shown by the balancesheet, proving a financial aucoess. During the year the ring fence has been put in a good state of repair, the greater portion of the oourse has been tdp dressed and the ornamental trees have been trimmed and other improvements made which will be found beneficial to the Glub. All the buildings are in good repair except the Grand Stand, your committee recommend that a new ,- stand be erected, provided ways and means can be arranged. The thanks of the Olub are dae to . all officials for their valuable services during the year. Nixon, Timekeeper; W. T. Little, Treasurer ; J. Davies, Judge ; J. R. Whyte, Secretary; J. Oummerfield Clerk of Scales, and F. Easton Clerk of Course. It was deoided that the number of Stewards and Committee be ton,, and the following were elected: — J. H. Bobinson, Walter Bobinson, C. Harrison, E. S. Thynne, W. T. Little, J. Howan, B. Border, G. Gray, W. B. Rhodes and W. Purcell. The subscription was retained at the sum fixed last year. ■ • • A hearty Tote of thanks waa passed to ail the Officials for their . servioes. Messrs F. Eure, C. Austin, and P. L. Harnett were elected members. It was resolved that the question of the erection of a new stand be | left in the hands of the committee with power to act. In answer to a request for the use of the inside of the course for a orop, it was resolved that the inside of the course be not ploughed. Those who knew the course thought it most unwise to break the surface by ploughing. An offer by Messrs Neylon and Spriggens to work t the totalisator was left in the hands of the com* mi t tee to deal with.

A vote of thanks to the chair brought one of the shortest meetings to an end at a quarter to nine.
