Five thousand persons are in a state of starvation at Johannesburg owing to the closing of the mines. Captain Meintj^g and Lieutenant Ooetzae, two Transvaal officers, commanding the Burger forces, arc bping tripd for shooting friendly natives at Langebeergen. The evidence given was that they shot two Kaffir woman and two children who were carrying a white rag.
