♦■ ■ The following reports were handed in and adopted at the last meeting of the above Council : — PUBLIC WORKS. We have the honor to report that the day men have been principally engaged in repairing the Moutoa road. We also beg to report the arrival of ten tracks of limestone ballast for the footpaths which the daymen are at present I preadingt The men have also when opportunity afforded been cleaning out drains. We would recommend the Council to order 100 tons of metal for repairing the roads where most urgently needed and call for tenders for carting same. J. R. Stansell, Mayor. RESERVES. We beg to report that the old bathing shed has been erected in Victoria Park at a cost of £8 83 6d, including urinal. It has been made into two rooms, one to be used . as a secretary's, and the other as a dressing room. Several loads of limestone ballast have been taken to the cycle track for the- purpose of improving it. Your Committee would recommend that on future occasions when Victoria Park is used for sports, that a levy of ten per cent, on the gross takings be made for the purpose of improving the Park. Twelve trees were planted on Record Beign Day as a start for an avenue, and we would recommend the Council to authorise to get sufficient to finish tha avenue. We would recommed the Council to call for tenders for ploughing, rolling and sowing down in grass a running track eighteen feet wide outside the present cycle track. J. B. Stansbll. Thos. WestwooV P. Your Committee beg to report that the new books comprising 60 volumes which they were authorised to purchase are now in use at the Library, and they authorize the payment of £11 18 ato Mr Alf Fraser, being value of same. During the last month the Librarian has reported that several small boys were in the habit of disturbing the readers at the rooms and your Committee have taken action in the matter, and they think effectually. *Your Committee beg to express a a wish that the public will become subscribers to the Library now that there is a good assortment 61 the latest reading. Thos. Westwood. J. W. Walsh. NUISANCES. I have to report that it haa been my duty to give notice to the follow* ing to remove nuisances — Joe Tos, to remove the rubbish and decayed vegetation from the back of his premises. Being attended to. I would draw your attention to the fact that one of the locks on the building lately erected in Victoria Park is broken, and that some person or persons have used the room as a W.C. ; and further that around the said building • nuisances have been committed.
