The Railway Earnings.
The rate of interest earned by the the New Zealand Government railways during the financial year ending on the 81st March last amounted to £8 8s lOd, which is in excess of the estimate, and larger than in any previons twelve momhs during the past ten years, as the following figures wili show:— 1888, £2 6s; 1889, £2 12s; 1890. £2 19s sd ; 1891, £2 18s lid ; 1892, £2 15s 9d ; 1893, £8 Is ; 1894, £2 17s 9d ; 1896, £2 14s 6d ; 1896, £2 16a ; 1897, £3 3s lOd.
