Crete.
The Times says the Christians in the Eastern and Central districts of Crete are willing to accept the scheme of autonomy. Hadji Michali, the chief of the Cretan insurgents, is convening an assembly, and proposes the formation of a Communal police force for the islands. i In tha House of Commons Mr Balfour stated that he did not expect order to be restored in Crete until the Governor was appointed and an efficient gendarmerie established.
