_ The first shipment of logs from Woodville way arrived by train on Saturday for the local sawmill. The trucks are taken to the siding beyond the wharf when the logs are rolled into the river and floated Up to the mill. The heavy winds again prevented the ateamer taking the Whangaroa out. This vessel has had a very unfortunate first eX' perience in our rivei\ Master P. Stanaell, who has been laid up some time from rheumatio fever is now, we are glad to say, on the road to recovery, he being able to get out of bed, and on Toesday got out for a drive. The lad was very patient during his illness. Cycles are the order of the day for both " black and white," as Joe Tpg had no sooner advertised with us the arrival of his bicytfes than he sold two straight off to some natives. The aboriginal is not to be left behind in the race of life or bioyole. The story of the Sunbeam has yet to be written in full— at present it is but-an unfortunate tale. The owner got the boat shifted across the river, as we have previously reported, on to a sloping shore when a flood again came down and so worked the ground around her as to make a hole into which she has sunk. The fear is that, before she can be raised the silt will wash around and cover her. The gross receipts of •' Aladdin " at Drury Lane this year "were £55,000.
